LIFE FORCE CULTURE is a kaleidoscopic, coming-of-age drama, played out against a world-class soundtrack of early hip-hop classics. An epic of modern urban life, the film is set in south Liverpool – ‘Liverpool 8’ – during the infamous summer of 1981.

Amidst the desolation caused by corruption, poverty and political neglect, we follow Young Eddie who is pursuing his love for hip-hop and imported vinyl, looking to ‘write his name on a wall’, when an uprising engulfs his community. It’s a street rebellion that can’t be stopped and one that changes his life forever.

Pulsating with life and character, LIFE FORCE CULTURE centres on a truly diverse community battling against prejudice, harassment and isolation.

Amidst a backdrop of explosive social unrest and racial tensions, with a strong commentary on society and race at its heart, the film is a long hot summer of uncertainty, anger, violence, teenage love, broken dreams and the desperate search for a better tomorrow; a story of a struggle for place and representation that could have come straight from a social media exchange in the present day, where omission and erasure are equally prevalent.

A wide screen canvas story of a community’s battle for a place, for representation and finally for justice, LIFE FORCE CULTURE is full of emotional power, stoop talk, imported American vinyl, clashing cultures, street art, parking lot slam-dancing, Super8 home movie material, the dark bacchanal of basement club scenes, burning milk vans, street graffiti, smoke bombs and rioting, all played out against a background of psychedelic dub, seductive disco and driving hip-hop beats.
